The Fone Friends in the North East decided that once again this year the successful fund-raising event in April was a good excuse for a celebratory lunch in July. It's always been good to treat ourselves after all the hard work. Helen Bayley had been invited to a wedding in the area and expressed the wish to meet up with us. So the date was set for Friday 13th July and a table booked at the Side Café near the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne. It was as well we had not chosen an outdoor venue as the rain was torrential and incessant. There were nine members of the regular coffee group present plus lsobel, Barbara's mum, as well as Helen and Gwynneth. Helen enjoyed meeting more members and we all spent a considerable time chatting. I was very pleased that at last Gwynneth was able to travel up from Northallerton to be with us. It was good to meet her and we hope she'll manage to join us again some time. The Side Café staff are always welcoming and the food excellent, so we all had a good time and are hoping to arrange our regular Christmas meal next.
