Noeline Young
Chair
Noeline became a Trustee and Chair in September 2004 having been
aware of the charity since 1999 whilst working as a Gynaecological
Clinical Nurse Specialist .Following personal experience of ovarian
cancer she has been actively supporting the charity as Chair of the
Trustees and is keen to support the needs of those affected by
ovarian cancer. Noeline lives in Dorset and works full time for the
National Cancer Survivorship Initiative. She is well supported by
her husband, Lester and family Hannah and Matthew.
Simon Chantrey
Treasurer
Simon became a trustee and treasurer of Ovacome in May 2009. He
is a chartered accountant who worked in corporate finance and
corporate broking, advising companies on raising finance and in
takeovers. He had a very active involvement in the development of
cable television in the UK. He has lived in the Woking area for 35
years with his wife Susanna, who passed away in July 2007.
Adrian Dickinson
Secretary
Adrian, husband of Sarah, Ovacome's founder, has been involved
in the charity since it's inception. His first role was making tea
for the Committee, but as Sarah's disease progressed, he took on a
more active role as Secretary to Ovacome. In this capacity, he
wrote the very first website, though this is now managed by Jatech.
Adrian's main contribution to the Ovacome is in the area of
Strategy and building a consensus around the competing demands on
Ovacome's modest resources
Professor Sean Kehoe
Professor Sean Kehoe is a Fellow of St. Peters College Oxford
and presently the President of the British Gynaecological Cancer
Society. He qualified in Trinity College Dublin, and came to the UK
in the 1990's to undertake research into ovarian cancer. After this
he undertook training in Gynaecological Oncology. He is a Medical
Advisor and Trustee of Ovacome. He works in Oxford, having
developed the Oxford Gynaecological Cancer Centre which was
formally established in 2005, and recently moved to a new purpose
built hospital on the Churchill Hospital site in Headington. He has
written many papers on cancer and pre-cancer and lectures regularly
at National and International Meetings

Professor Usha Menon
Usha Menon is Professor of Gynaecological Cancer at the UCL
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Institute of Women's Health and
Consultant Gynaecologist, UCLH NHS Trust, London. She is Head of
the Gynaecological Cancer Research Centre.
The focus of her research is screening and prevention of
gynaecological malignancies particularly ovarian cancer. She is
principle investigator on the UK ovarian cancer screening trials
and on studies exploring symptoms in ovarian cancer. The former
includes the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening - a
randomised control trial of 202,000 women with mortality as the end
point. Other interests are genetic and environmental risk factors
and novel biomarkers in ovarian cancer. The research has attracted
funding from Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK,
Department of Health and the Eve Appeal amounting to over £25
million.
Her main clinical interest is management of women at increased
risk of familial gynaecological cancers. She runs the Familial
Cancer Clinic for gynaecological oncology.
Professor Glenn McCluggage
Glenn McCluggage is a Consultant Gynaecological Pathologist in
Department of Pathology, Royal Group of Hospitals Trust, Belfast.
In 2005, he was appointed as an honorary Professor of
Gynaecological Pathology of the Queen's University of Belfast.
He is currently president of the British Association of
Gynaecological Pathologists, secretary of the International Society
of Gynaecological Pathologists and the national pathology
representative on the NCRI (National Cancer Research Institute)
Gynaecological Clinical Studies Group.
Professor Lesley Fallowfield
Lesley Fallowfield is Professor of Psycho-oncology at Brighton
& Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex where she is
Director of the Cancer Research UK Psychosocial Oncology Group.
Professor Fallowfield originally trained as a nurse at Guy's
Hospital London but then did a BSc in Experimental Psychology at
Sussex. Research for her doctorate in psychophysics was completed
at the Universities of Sussex and Cambridge. She was a senior
lecturer in health psychology at the Royal London Medical College
where she gained a career development fellowship and a major
programme grant from the Cancer Research Campaign. In 1991 she
became full-time Director of the Psychosocial Oncology Group.
Professor Fallowfield was awarded the first European chair in
Psycho-oncology from University College London in 1997.
Her research interests are wide and include the measurement of
quality of life in clinical trials of cancer therapy and the
training of communication skills for health care professionals in
cancer. She has published over 300 papers, and written or co-edited
3 books. She lectures and runs training workshops throughout the
world in psychosocial oncology, quality of life assessment and
communication skills.
Dr James McKay
Dr. James Mackay is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Research
Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment, University
College London. He practices as a Consultant Genetic Oncologist in
the London Oncology Clinic, the London Clinic, and the London
Breast Clinic. He is on the advisory board of several cancer
charities.
Dr Richard Osbourne
Richard Osborne is a Consultant in Medical Oncology at the
Dorset Cancer Centre where he combines a clinical service with
therapeutic research in the areas of ovarian cancer, colon cancer,
and melanoma. During a career including posts at St Bartholomew's
Hospital, London, the National Cancer Institute, USA, and
Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, Dr Osborne has been awarded an
ICRF Clinical Research Fellowship, NCI-EORTC Research Fellowship
and a Fulbright Senior Scholarship. He has been involved in
treatment and research for women with ovarian cancer for almost 30
years.
Mr Andy Nordin
Mr Andy Nordin is a subspecialist gynaecological oncologist. He
has led the East Kent Gynaecological Oncology Centre
multidisciplinarly team in East Kent since 2000, and is an Honorary
Senior Lecturer at University College London.
Andy was the National Clinical Lead for Gynaecology for the NHS
Cancer Services Collaborative from 2001-2008, and continues as the
Clinical Advisor for Gynaecology to NHS Cancer Improvement. He
chairs the national group of cancer network lead clinicians and the
gynaecology group of the National Cancer Intelligence Network
(NCIN).
Andy worked with the EORTC in the development of quality of life
modules for gynaecological cancers, and produced patient
educational videos and information for the NHS Choices internet
site.
Dr Melanie MacKean
Dr Melanie Mackean is a consultant in medical oncology and
honorary senior lecturer at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. She is
chair of the regional gynaecological cancer network and chairs the
multidisciplinary meetings. Her MD was in chemotherapy resistance
in ovarian cancer. She participates in trials in ovarian cancer and
teaches communication skills.
Emma Elliott
Emma qualified as a registered nurse in September 1999 from St
Bartholomew's School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Emma joined the Gynaecological Oncology team in June 2005 on a
Clinical Nurse Specialist cross site training post and was then
promoted to the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gynaecological
Oncology in April 2007.
Emma is currently completing her MSc Leadership in Nursing at
Kings College London. She was elected the President of the National
Forum of Gynaecological Oncology Nurses Forum in November 2008.
Emma is actively involved in the implementation of National
policy from the Department of Health. She continues to undertake
collaborative working with Macmillan Cancer Support through the
survivorship projects and with the National Cancer Action team with
the development of the Information Prescription.
Tracie Miles
Tracie is the lead Gynaecology Oncology nurse specialist at the
Royal United Hospital in Bath. Her clinical work covers all aspects
of the ovarian cancer pathway, including nurse led follow up/
survivorship programme.
Tracie is a doctoral student at the University of the West of
England researching into toxicity of treatments. She is a Cochcrane
author and peer reviewer.
Tracie lectures at the University and has presented her work
both nationally and internationally.
