Contact your MP to take action to tackle ovarian cancer
Ovacome is asking you to join us in raising the profile of
ovarian cancer by contacting your MP ask them to help us to Ovacome
it together. Ovacome has already written to MPs in England with
local data and information on ovarian cancer but we know that we'll
have a bigger impact if you are involved.
We are calling for a focus on:
- Improving early diagnosis
- Ensuring high quality ovarian cancer service standards
- Ensuring access to the best treatment
- Protecting the role of clinical nurse specialists
More detail on each of these areas can be found
here.
Being an advocate for Ovacome
There are a number of ways in which you can help us to get your
MP involved and raise the profile of ovarian cancer. Some MPs are
already active in campaigning on ovarian cancer issues from a local
and national perspective; others are unaware of the impact of the
disease on patients, families and the NHS.
You can help by telling your MP about ovarian cancer and about how
they can get involved. You could:
- Request a meeting at your local MP's constituency surgery to
speak to your MP face to face
- Write a letter or email to your local MP talking about your
personal experience of ovarian cancer and asking them to take
action to improve ovarian cancer services
- Invite your MP to your local meeting or event to give them the
opportunity to hear from other Ovacome supporters
Ovacome can send you a constituency briefing that will provide
you with a snapshot of the ovarian cancer services in your area
which may be helpful in providing relevant local information to
your MP when you contact them. If you would like to recieve a copy,
please contact on 020 7299 6654 or email us on
