FoneFriends
You are warmly invited to contact Ovacome FoneFriends. We offer
a nationwide telephone network aiming to provide support to women
and their families who are affected by ovarian cancer.
FoneFriends:
- Have had ovarian cancer, so they can listen to your fears,
questions and concerns empathetically
- Can share common experiences with you
- Can contact the Fone Friend who co-ordinates the area you live
in
- Can give you the names of other useful organisations
- Can answer some basic questions about ovarian cancer and
treatments based on their personal experience but NOT give medical
advice
Your Regional Ovarian Cancer Co-ordinator:
- Can put you in touch with one or more women with ovarian cancer
in your area. These are women who want to take your call and are
called FoneFriends. Some groups of FoneFriends create their own
small support networks.
- Can link you with a FoneFriend if you have specific questions
or concerns eg someone who has had the same chemotherapy, symptoms
etc...
- Can try to link family members eg husband, sister, mother
- Some arrange open house meetings or get-togethers
- All area co-ordinators have had personal experience of ovarian
cancer - either themselves or a relative, and will listen to your
concerns empathetically
Talking through a concern can be comforting and therapeutic.
Great inspiration and hope can come from women who have survived
their treatment and are well
We appreciate telephone calls can be costly - Ovacome and ROCCs
will call you back if asked.
