Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 2021 . Take action with us this March! Right now, in the UK, there are around 41,000 people living with ovarian cancer. So while ovarian is still a less common type of cancer, awareness of the symptoms is key to ensuring better outcomes for tens of thousands of people in the future. It is these 41,000 people and their loved ones that Ovacome set out to support 25 years ago, when there was little to no public knowledge about the disease and its symptoms, and no specialist support available. Today, it is the 41,000 people living with ovarian cancer who continue to shape our services and work with us to improve future care and support for those diagnosed. So, it is in the name of these 41,000 people living with ovarian cancer that we’re asking you to take action this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. We know from our conversations with our community how frustrating it is that there is still not enough general awareness of ovarian cancer and the symptoms to look out for. We’re asking you to do something, big or small, to increase awareness of ovarian cancer this March. Your chosen act might be to share one of our awareness posts on social media, to order some free B.E.A.T. symptom wallet cards to give to your family, to book an ‘Ovacome at Work’ awareness presentation for your workplace, or to share your experiences so that there is better public understanding of the disease and its impact. Every small act adds up to a big change. You can also make a huge difference by donating or fundraising for our work. You’ll be funding our awareness programmes that educate student doctors on how to recognise the signs of ovarian cancer, and you’ll also be paying for support for someone whose life has been changed completely by a diagnosis. Together, if we can complete 41,000 acts and raise £41,000 this month, then we’ll have made a genuine change in the name of the 41,000 people who are the heart of everything we do. . Get involved Here are some ways you can take part in our 41,000 Acts campaign and help us reach our target: raising £41000 and completing 41000 acts. Please let us know what you have planned by emailing [email protected] or by texting 07775 972 952. . . . * Texts cost £2 plus one standard rate message.
