Get involved Come to our support groups and events Bristol Health and Wellbeing Day Ovacome, the ovarian cancer support charity, will be hosting a free Health and Wellbeing Day in Bristol for anyone who has been affected by ovarian cancer. Family and friends are also welcome to attend. Join us on Friday 11 October. This will be an opportunity to attend talks and workshops and to meet others affected by the disease. You are welcome to join us for as much of the day as you like. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. The order of the day is: 10:30am, Arrivals and welcome from the Ovacome team 11:00am-12:15pm, Allon Stoke, Counselling Lead at Penny Brohn UK, will give an introduction talk about Penny Brohn, followed by a therapeutic session on ‘Thriving not just surviving, strategies to manage worry and anxiety’ 12:15-12:45pm, About Ovacome 12:45-1:30pm, Lunch 1:30-2:30pm, Janice Walsh, Forest Therapy Practitioner, will lead a session on Ecotherapy. The session will consist of a general mindfulness invitation when we would consider and tune in to each of the senses in turn, followed by one or two activities which encourage movement around an area of the garden. 2:30-3:30pm, Elena Byers, sound artist, yoga teacher and community facilitator, will lead a sound bath. A creative and deeply restorative sound journey to allow the mind to centre in the present moment, and the body to relax. Sound is a beautiful tool into our inner imagination, that can allow for the nourishment of body and soothing of the mind as invites for heightened focus and relaxation. The session will be an open, playful and relaxing exploration of the benefits of sound as a tool for wellbeing, and an opportunity to receive some meditative TLC too. The South West Health and Wellbeing Day is being run in collaboration with Penny Brohn UK. Penny Brohn UK is the cancer health and wellbeing charity.
