Take part in the second Ovacome Creative Writing Competition for the chance to win a first prize of £250! We are launching this competition to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and funds for our ovarian cancer support services. 

First Prize: Top prize £250!

The competition is open to anyone in the UK over the age of 18. You can enter a short story with a maximum word count of 2,000 words.

You can enter any time between 1st of June 2021 and the of 30th September 2021 - the winner and runner up will be announced mid-December 2021.

The theme for the 2020 writing competition is 'Connected'. This theme can be interpreted in many different ways the possibilities are endless! Your story doesn't have to be about health or ovarian cancer. 

Creative writing promotes happiness and mental well-being, so this is a great opportunity to express yourself, whether you are an experienced writer or have never written a story before. We can't wait to read your inspiring and creative stories!

The competition is judged by call the midwife stars Jenny Agutter and Stephen McGann. 

            

Stephen plays Dr Turner and is married to screenwriter and playwright Heidi Thomas. Stephen enjoys reading as an escape from his script reading, switching between the "latest British fiction writing, at other times it’s strictly non-fiction — good science writing, or new perspectives on history, such as William Dalrymple’s ‘The Anarchy, and Tom Holland’s ‘Dominion’. 

Jenny Agutter is an Ovacome patron and notes that last years winner "skilfully showed how an act of kindness can transform somebody’s life in her account entitled How I spent my weekend".

OR you can submit your entry by post to Ovacome, 52-54 Featherstone Street, London EC1Y 8RT. For postal entries, please enclose your £5 entry fee as a cheque made payable to Ovacome.
