Overall £2000 raised for Ovacome - Thank You.

Updated April 2021 - I did it! 11000 steps (min) for every day in March. Total steps - 385,997.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my fundraising events/pages 💜. For becoming aware of Ovarian Cancer symptoms by reading my story and following my journey 🙏. Stay Safe xx

Update: March 2021. (£168.50 so far)
Working from home is past year through the Covid-19 Pandemic has meant i’ve been walking even less than before. There’s only so many times a day I go from my ‘home office’ to the kitchen and my fitbit app tells me on average I’ve only been managing 2500 steps a day in the past year!

That’s why I’ve decided to challenge myself to 11000 steps a day every day for the month of March, and raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer. Thank you for visiting my Ovacome fundraising page. 💜 which remains open for donations.

Thank you to everyone that has supported me thus far. I’m always thinking about the next event to raise awareness and funds. If your reading this, I’ve kept this page open so if you can help please donate. Or get in touch to see what event I might be currently planning and how you can help me 💖
Sept 2019 - £700 raised in joint event to raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer.

Mayfair Event - March 2019 - £1682.
May - June 2017 : In the space of 4 weeks I had a Stroke, learned of clots in my lungs and an Ovarian Cyst with a raised CA125. Who would have thought that a stroke at age 39 could be what saved me. Did I happen to be at the right place at the right time having tests and scans done when they discovered I had an ovarian mass the size of a grapefruit?! What followed was a period of bloating and sickness ahead of debulking surgery Mid June 2017.
I was diagnosed with Stage 1c Grade 3 Clear Cell Carcinoma in June 2017. Followed by 6 cycles of Carboplatin and Pacilitaxel chemotherapy. I was given the all clear in November 2017 and then started to rebuild my confidence, with the help of a wig and stylish headwear, whilst waiting for my hair to grow back.
I don't really recall having the symptoms of ovarian cancer, although in hindsight, I remember a dull heavy ache when I slept to one side. I didn’t ever think anything of it, I just got used to sleeping on my other side. I used to complain of tiredness, but put that down to the running round and hectic work-home-school routine I had being a busy working mum.
I’m lucky that the series of events of 2017 saved me and my cancer was caught in the early stages. I have the most wonderful Consultant Gynaecologist and Oncologists who I see on a regular basis now.

In March 2019 I am going out of my comfort zone, will attempt to put my heels back on (I hope) and model as part of the Touch of Teal Tea fashion show with Ovacome at the Mayfair Hotel! I'm hoping to raise awareness along with 14 other ladies, of the symptoms of this 'silent killer' cancer as well as raise funds for Ovacome.

Ovacome provides a range of support services for anyone who has been affected by ovarian cancer, whether directly or indirectly. They offer a free telephone support line, a 24 hour online forum, email support, instant chat services and face to face support groups. They also work to raise awareness of the disease and to provide information from some of the top clinicians in the field of ovarian cancer.

Ovacome also fund a research fellow at Birmingham University, who is working to develop new therapies and understand and improve outcomes for women with advanced ovarian cancer.

As a smaller charity, every donation really helps Ovacome to continue and expand their services, providing vital support to those affected by this lesser known form of cancer. Any amount that you can offer would be greatly appreciated and would contribute towards their important work. Please use the teal DONATE button above if you can help.

Thank you so much for reading!
