Our Writing Competition will go live on 31 July at www.ovacome.org.uk/Event/writing-competition

Take part in the first ever Ovacome Creative Writing Competition for the chance to win some fantastic prizes! The competition is open to anyone who enjoys writing, you don't have to be affected by ovarian cancer. We are launching this competition to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and money for our ovarian cancer support services.

First prize: £250!

The writing competition is open to anyone in the UK over the age of 18. You can enter a short story with a maximum word count of 2,000 words.

Entry costs £5. You can enter any time between 31 July 2020 and 31 October 2020 - the winner and runner up will be announced in December 2020.

The theme for the 2020 writing competition is 'Overcoming'. This theme can be interpreted in many different ways (for example: overcoming fear, isolation, prejudice, set-backs - the possibilities are endless!). Your story doesn't have to be about health or ovarian cancer.

Creative writing promotes happiness and mental well-being, so this is a great opportunity to express yourself, whether you are an experienced writer or have never written a story before. We can't wait to read your inspiring and creative stories!

We are delighted to announce our wonderful panel of judges...

Best-selling novelist, broadcaster, and Eats, Shoots & Leaves author Lynne Truss.

Crime writer, award-winning journalist and author of several non-fiction books, William Shaw.

Former BBC Travel Show presenter and writer Matthew Collins, who now teaches Shakespeare in schools and prisons.

More prizes to be announced soon!
