Ovacome Ovarian Cancer Resource Centre at Royal Marsden
Jenny Aggutter to open new centre
A lasting legacy of Sarah Dickinson's desire for the ovarian cancer community to support each other will become reality through a new Ovarian Cancer Resource Centre at the Royal Marsden Hospital where Sarah was a patient.
The Ovacome Ovarian Cancer Resource Centre will be officially opened in late September, marking the first anniversary of Ovacome as a registered charity. A full-scale media effort has been put behind the dedication at which the actress Jenny Agutter, patron of Ovacome, will be joining Sarah's husband Adrian and key staff at the Marsden for the official celebration.
The Resource Centre, which will be located in the Marsden's out-patient information library, will display various booklets the Royal Marsden has already developed about ovarian cancer, along with a reading list for those wishing to find out more. Ovacome membership leaflets will also be on display, along with a video narrated by Jenny Agutter that will be developed later in the year.
In addition to the Resource Centre, a permanent plaque will be unveiled as a lasting tribute to Sarah's incredible vision for supporting the otherwise isolated ovarian cancer community.
It is hoped that the Resource Centre at the Marsden will become just one of many such centres around the country.
