A new report from Cancer Research UK has found that neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) in the omentum release their DNA in 'webs' that help to trap ovarian cancer cells released from tumours. It is therefore possible that preventing the webs from being formed could limit the spread of ovarian cancer and avoid the need for the omentum to be surgically removed. Further research is needed in humans.
