Valeria joined Ovacome for a summer internship in July 2018. While with us, she work on a project mapping the demographics of our membership, identifying both regional areas that we need to reach out to with our Ova to You events and less well represented groups who might not be receiving adequate access to ovarian cancer resources.

"My work at Ovacome has been one of the best experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to work as an Intern on the Ova to You project, where we are trying to reach women around the UK and give our message to those who do not have access to resources about ovarian cancer and its symptoms."

"Over the past 6 weeks, I have learned about ovarian cancer, how it behaves and its symptoms, and also that it is a rare cancer that is often diagnosed at a late stage. What I enjoyed the most about working as a volunteer for Ovacome was helping with STS (Survivors Teaching Students). The programme is amazing; I met so many strong women who have experienced ovarian cancer and who were willing to share their stories with medical students. Meeting these women and getting the chance to speak with them was the best experiences that I had during my time at Ovacome."
