What a difference 'a goal' makes

I walk every day, whatever the weather and have managed to walk a marathon in a week for the last 38 weeks and plan to 'walk 52 marathons in 52 weeks' to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer and to raise funds for the amazing charity Ovacome who has supported me since my diagnosis in May 2020.

My phone pings reminding me to get out and walk, but I'm past that, I just want to walk and nothing is going to stop me, its never the wrong weather to walk, its making sure I have the right clothes on!

Hearing those three little words 'You've got cancer' takes you on a roller coaster of emotions with the inner chatter box going 24/7. Walking has been my salvation, walking in silence, listening to my breath and the sound of me just walking, helped me to reach that calm almost mediative space as I walked.

The Ovacome team, along with the many inspirational ladies with Ovarian Cancer (The Friday tribe) are amazing and have supported me along the way as I come to terms of living with this chronic disease

I am walking just over 4 miles a day and am walking a marathon in a week, can I do this for every week for the rest of the year? Will you support me by walking with me?

You don't have to walk a marathon, just 10-15 minutes of walking a day and you'll feel the difference!

If you would like to join my Walk With Me club, please email [email protected] and we can get walking together.

Ovacome provides a range of support services for anyone who has been affected by ovarian cancer, whether directly or indirectly. They offer a free telephone support line, a 24 hour online forum, email support, instant chat services and face to face support groups. They also work to raise awareness of the disease and to provide information from some of the top clinicians in the field of ovarian cancer.

Ovacome also fund a research fellow at Birmingham University, who is working to develop new therapies and understand and improve outcomes for women with advanced ovarian cancer.

As a smaller charity, every donation really helps Ovacome to continue and expand their services, providing vital support to those affected by this lesser known form of cancer. Any amount that you can offer would be greatly appreciated and would contribute towards their important work.

Please share this page with your friends and family on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere, so that I can reach my target and that together, we can help Ovacome to do more for those affected by this disease. Thank you! Allyson Kent
