On 30th April 2015 my Mum, Sophia, found herself in A&E with a new diagnosis of advanced Ovarian cancer and a poor prognosis. 3 years, 8 months, 2 operations and 43 chemotherapy infusions later and here she is, continuing to fight the good fight.

This year I will be running the London marathon in support of Ovacome who have, in turn, been a source of continuous support to Mum through every step of this difficult journey.

Honestly, I’m dreading it and my legs are pretty small, so any pennies you have to spare really will make every bit of difference during these cold, dark months of training.

About Ovacome:

Ovacome provides a range of support services for anyone who has been affected by ovarian cancer, whether directly or indirectly. They offer a free telephone support line, a 24 hour online forum, email support, instant chat services and face to face support groups. They also work to raise awareness of the disease and to provide information from top clinicians in the field of ovarian cancer.

Ovacome also fund a research fellow at Birmingham University, who is working to develop new therapies and understand and improve outcomes for women with advanced ovarian cancer.

As a smaller charity, every donation really helps Ovacome to continue and expand their services, providing vital support to those affected by this lesser known form of cancer.
