October 2023 marked 5 years since we lost our beautiful best friend Nicki. Not a day has gone by where I’ve not thought of her. It doesn’t get any easier and the grief of losing someone so close at such a young age never subsides. I ran my first half marathon in 2016 when Nicki had not long been diagnosed and had been receiving chemo. She was a warrior throughout all of her entire cancer journey. I ran my second half marathon in 2018 just a month before she passed. In 2024, a month after she should have turned 38, I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon and raising money for Ovacome.

In the past 5 years my sister Tori and I have raised over £3000 for Ovacome. Friends, family and even people we have never met have been so generous giving what they can to help us reach our fundraising goals. Ovacome help to support those who have been diagnosed and those that love the people who have been diagnosed, they are a truly remarkable charity.

The Edinburgh Marathon will be my last fundraising race and I hope to finish my fundraising journey on a high (and manage to finish the actual race!)

Help me raise some money for an amazing charity for my very last race. Thank you 💚 Jen Russell
