Debbie's legacy
Debbie passed away on the 9th September 2021 in Holland. Debbie had a huge heart and freely provided support, friendship, strength and love to family, friends and even people she meet for the first time. Her warmth on all occasions was evident and her smile would light up the room - as mentioned "once met never forgotten".
She continually raised awareness and supported charities throughout her life with sponsored walks, runs and also climbing Kilimanjaro in 2017.
In March 2020, to mark Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Debbie shared her story with the public in a blog article. Here she spoke of the support she received following her diagnosis of Clear Cell ovarian cancer, from her colleagues and encouraged women to be aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer and if they experience any of the symptoms to seek medical help from their doctor.
In this blog post, Debbie said:
“The great support from family, friends and colleagues, and a positive attitude, have helped me deal with many of the challenges on this journey."
“I hope that promoting greater awareness about ovarian cancer will help other women and ultimately, save more lives.”
In memory of Debbie, on 9 September 2023, Phil, Simon, Stuart, Dan, Steve, and Paul cycled from the London Eye to the Eiffel Tower in 23hrs 53mins, raising a staggering £42,572! They jumped back in the saddle in June 2024, riding 285m across Italy, and raising £50,000!
On 30-31 August 2025, Phil, Stu, Simon, Dan, Tux and Ali took on their third epic challenge in memory of Debbie - this time from Milan to Zurich in just 24 hours! They raised an incredible £38,285.
On 27 April 2025, Debbie’s goddaughter, Rosie, completed the 2025 London Marathon in Debbie’s honour, raising a spectacular £7,513 for those affected by ovarian cancer.
