"I think being a younger woman there is a misconception that younger people can’t get this disease. I’m proof that it’s not true."

"Hopefully we can spotlight a diverse group of people who are affected by this disease and continue to raise awareness and spark conversations that can lead to better outcomes for all in the future.”

"The shock was immense, and my main worries were how to tell our children, managing work responsibilities and financial stability. Relief only came after the second surgery confirmed the cancer hadn’t spread, though early menopause and its emotional impact were tough."

Lisa

"Very little [information was available]. Having a rare cancer and finding facts was hard. Ovacome was the only information page where I could find factual information. It was helpful to send to friends and family so they could understand my diagnosis."

Under 45s online support group

The Ovacome Under 45s group is for anyone who was under 45 when they were diagnosed with ovarian cancer (it doesn't matter if you are over 45 now).
Online 5:00-6:30pm on the first Wednesday of every month.

"I think one of the hardest things about my diagnosis was my age. It was hard in the sense that a lot of people [who] had ovarian cancer were a bit older, so I couldn’t relate quite as much, and also in the sense that I had a rare type of ovarian cancer. You do feel a bit isolated at first, but Ovacome were great in supporting me.
...One thing I wish I had found sooner was Ovacome’s Under 45’s Support Group."

The Ovacome forum

My Ovacome is an online community for anyone affected by ovarian cancer and has over 19,000 members.
It is a safe, supportive space to share experiences and offer encouragement, knowledge, understanding and friendship. It is moderated 24/7 by Health Unlocked, and by the Ovacome support team during office hours to ensure that all information is accurate and that the forum remains a safe space.

"[Ovacome’s online forum and support groups] were great. They helped to make a very scary time less isolating as I connected with others who had similar rare diagnoses. Being able to be vulnerable with others who ‘got it’ was so incredibly helpful."
