This free and uplifting community walk marks the grand finale of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month and brings together those impacted by ovarian cancer for a day of movement and connection. It’s a chance to meet familiar faces from Ovacome’s online community, make friends, chat with our team, and raise vital funds and awareness to help us continue our life-changing work.
Everyone’s welcome – friends, family, dogs! – and you don’t need to fundraise to join in the fun.
We’re aiming to raise £75,000 during September, to reach more than one million people with awareness and information materials for the next 12 months. We’ll do this by printing our magazine three times a year, publishing information about ovarian cancer on our website and in our 50 information booklets, as well as circulating awareness materials in local communities.
If you'd like to fundraise to help us reach this goal, set up a fundraising page to collect sponsorship for your walk on 27 September via the button below. If you commit to raising £100, you’ll receive an Ovacome T-shirt and wristband!

Where to find us
We will be based next to the park’s bandstand, a short 5-minute walk southeast of The Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) at the park’s entrance. Keep your eyes peeled for a member of our team in a teal Ovacome t-shirt who will be on the door to direct you. We will also have signs pointing the way to our camp.
Getting to the park
Click here to view details on how to find the park, including car parking (charges apply – cash pay and display or Pay by Phone) and public transport options. If you display your Blue Badge, parking is free with no time limits in any of the site’s car parks.
The nearest car park to the bandstand is Russell Road Car Park, B13 8RD. It is £5.55 for all-day parking.
“I signed up thinking that it would be a good opportunity to meet others with similar stories, and it more than delivered. I left the event with a real buzz, having met some wonderful and inspiring people. I could have easily walked and chatted my way around another couple of laps! It was far more than a fundraising event – it was an opportunity for friendship, network building and a desire to do more!”
- Niccola, previous attendee
Frequently asked questions
What should I wear?
This is an outdoor event with limited cover, so please wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather, and sunscreen if the sun’s out. Why not wear something teal, something sparkly, face paint, deely-boppers, tutus… you name it, we’d love to see it!
If you’d like to wear an Ovacome t-shirt or hoodie, please visit our shop [here – insert link]. Please make sure you order at least 2 weeks before the event so the postman can get to you in time!
What should I bring?
Please bring plenty of water to carry with you on the walk as we’re not able to provide single use bottles of water along the route.
If walking’s not your thing, we’d suggest bringing a picnic blanket to sit on or a camping chair if you’d find that more comfortable. There are also several public benches by the bandstand and picnic tables under the trees nearby.
Will refreshments be provided?
Ovacome will provide soft drinks and snacks, but if you would like something more substantial, we suggest bringing your own sandwiches or picnic lunch to enjoy while getting to know our team and other supporters. There is also a Garden Tea Room in the park (very close to the bandstand) and the Bridges Cafe at the MAC to purchase any food and drink on the day.
First Aid
We will have a first aider present, so if you need assistance, please speak to a member of Ovacome staff team who will be able to help you.
What toilet facilities are there?
There are several blocks of free public access toilets at the park. Unfortunately, the block with the baby change and disabled facilities is currently unavailable. However, accessible unisex toilets with lift access are available inside Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) at the entrance to the park.
Have a question we didn't cover? Email fundraising@ovacome.org.uk or call 0207 299 6654 to speak to a member of our team.
