March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’ve taken on the challenge to walk 1000 miles in 2021 to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and raise funds for Ovacome - the amazing charity that supports women like me with this diagnosis.

Would you be interested in walking ‘with me’, every day in the month of March? It could just be for 15- 30 minutes a day or longer, it’s up to you.

From January 1st 2021, I have been walking every day, whatever the weather. We have had some ‘challenging weather’ but it was never the wrong weather, it was wearing the right clothes. Walking has really helped me both physically and mentally as I come to terms with this chronic disease. It’s great to get out into the fresh air and just walk, occasionally chatting to people in the new socially distanced way.

I set myself a goal to walk 2.7 miles a day in order to achieve the 1000 miles in 2021, then discovered a great 4-mile circular walk that I could do and then found myself walking a marathon in a week. It felt so good to see my mileage increasing slowly to now walking 4 miles a day. This I never would have believed and I’m on track to walk 8 marathons in 8 weeks on 25th Feb.

We have set up a club ‘Ovacome Teal walk – Walk with me ‘in Strava (free app) where you can record your mileage & we can link up and support each other with our walking. Or if you just want to link up with your walking via instagram @walk.ntalk2021 @ovacomecharity, it’s up to you, but post your pictures and we can chat to each other and support each other.

Hope to walk and talk with you in March. I am loving walking and hope you will too.
