This Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, on 12 September, 11 models took to the runway to celebrate another year of Touch of Teal. 

Organised by Ovacome’s Patron, Lady Adele Sewell MBE, the annual event raises funds and awareness for Ovacome services through a fashion show and luxury afternoon tea at the May Fair hotel, featuring models who have had an ovarian cancer diagnosis. This year's show included four catwalks, with themes ranging from wedding guest to red carpet. 

Now in its 16th year, this Touch of Teal was an unforgettable one, with our models raising a record-breaking £28,143 so far to help ensure that our vital services can continue to support everyone affected by ovarian cancer, with over £2000 of match-funding on its way to boost their total! 

Speaking about the impact of taking part, model Michelle said: 

"I have gained new skills in abundance in taking part in this. It's been one of the most life-affirming things and is up there with one of the best experiences of my life." 

Whilst the models are united by their experience of having ovarian cancer, Randa explains how the event allows them to be seen beyond their diagnosis: 

"It is as empowering as it is saddening that we have all had this disease. However, on the catwalk, we get to be whoever we want to be, and not just a person who has had ovarian cancer." 

Maggie describes walking the catwalk as "the most joyous experience" and encourages others with ovarian cancer to not hesitate in participating if they get the chance: 

"You get to meet Lady Adele Sewell and the team at Ovacome, and some amazing women with shared experience of living with ovarian cancer, who become your friends and an additional support network. You get to choose and wear fabulous clothes, and have your hair and make-up done by professionals. Your family and friends will delight in seeing you on the catwalk. All while raising awareness of ovarian cancer and raising vital funds for Ovacome." 

This year, every model fundraised and worked so hard to raise vital awareness in their communities. We cannot thank our amazing models enough for putting on a wonderful show for such an important cause.
