In 2002 I made a call to Emma Phelps, wife of my mate Steve to set the wheels in motion for my teaching career. Emma worked for Select Education and gave me various placements around Bristol, Bath and Gloucester, before I took a full time position in Kenilworth.
Fast forward to October 2020 and Steve messaged to say that Emma had passed away from a recurrence of clear cell ovarian cancer, an illness which dominated the last 2 years of her life. She was 46 years old, leaving Steve and their 16 year old twin daughters.
This is a rare form of cancer with limited treatment options, resistant to chemotherapy and aggressive.
I want to make a difference, to raise awareness and funds for Ovacome, the ovarian cancer charity.
My aim is to complete a virtual cycle ride of Route 66 (across 8 states of USA) between January and June 10th, Emma's birthday. Steve and Emma covered some of this 2278 mile journey in their younger travelling days and I want to do this for them and their girls.

Please share this page with your friends and family on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere, so that I can reach my target and that together, we can help Ovacome to do more for those affected by this disease. Thank you!
