Why I’m fundraising
Sunday 8th FebAt the ripe age of 25, when many of us are navigating our own quarter-life crisis, I’ve decided to join the pack and run a marathon. It’s a goal I’ve always flirted with, and one I’ll be incredibly proud to complete.
I’ll be running the Newport Marathon this April in honour of my aunt, Dr Isobel Jayne Mock, and raising money for a charity close to her heart. Jayne sadly lost her battle with ovarian cancer in December 2025.
Jayne was a truly wonderful person to be around. Her infectious sense of fun, boundless energy for life, and unwavering courage was remarkable. We were always in awe of her positivity and her determination to savour every moment. Whether she was exploring the world, heading out for a parkrun, or caring for others in her work as a GP, Jayne lived with purpose and generosity. She was, and always will be, the best aunty anyone could ask for. We miss her deeply, and the void she leaves behind will never be filled.
I’m fundraising for Ovacome, the UK’s national ovarian cancer charity. They provide vital support and information to anyone affected by ovarian cancer, those diagnosed, those who may be at risk, their loved ones, and healthcare professionals. Ovacome is a powerful community working to reduce isolation, share knowledge, and ensure no one faces ovarian cancer alone.
If you’re able to spare even a pound it would mean the world to me and my family.
