Lisa's Fundraiser Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

By Lisa Carroll

Help me to make a difference to those affected by ovarian cancer

Can you help me make a real difference to the life of someone affected by ovarian cancer?

I’m raising funds for Ovacome, the national UK charity focused on providing support and information to anyone affected by this disease. Ovacome is a strong community for those who have been diagnosed, those who think that they might be at risk, friends and family, and healthcare professionals.

Ovacome exists to reduce isolation, provide expert information, promote understanding of ovarian cancer and its symptoms, and to support those affected by it in their time of need.

Ovacome’s specialist support team is there to help those living with ovarian cancer navigate their treatment, care and life beyond the disease through the charity’s telephone support line, email, and 24-hour forum. Ovacome also hosts online and in-person groups, workshops, and events where people affected can meet others in similar circumstances, share advice, make friends, and offer encouragement to one another in a safe environment.

Ovacome receives no government funding and so relies on its donors and fundraisers to make its life-changing work possible. Your generosity could help someone affected by ovarian cancer access the vital support and resources they need. Any amount you feel able to give could have a huge impact on the experience of someone facing a diagnosis.

It would mean a lot to me if you could share my fundraising page with your friends, family, colleagues and on your social media.

A note from me

Thursday 26th Feb
It's been almost four years since this picture was taken, at an incredibly difficult time for our family. Thankfully, I’m well now but still have annual check‑ups.

While I was ill, and in the period since, Ovacome has been a lifeline. It became a source of trusted information and much-needed connection with others who were walking a similar path. This helped to make an incredibly scary time much more bearable. Something I'm eternally grateful for.

This March, for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I’m raising funds for Ovacome - and I'm honoured to say I'll be joining them as a trustee.

Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” cancer, but it doesn’t have to be. If sharing my story helps even one person recognise symptoms sooner, trust their instincts, or feel less intimidated by the word cancer, then it’s worth it.

I’ll always be grateful to Ovacome for the help they offered at such a difficult time. Please consider and support others when they need it too.
