When someone close to you is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, you may experience lots of different emotions. You may feel others around you don't understand what you're going through. Ovacome is here to support you.
Who is the group for?
Our family and friends group is for anyone whose loved one has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
The group provides an opportunity to meet others, share your experiences, and ask for advice. It's also an opportunity to ask the Ovacome team any questions you might have about the disease and treatments. Our aim is support you and help you to manage the practical and emotional aspects of caring for someone with ovarian cancer.
When does the group take place?
The group takes place once a month. However those who attend are invited to join a Whatsapp group, which allows you to connect with others from the group and ask questions at any time (this is optional).
The group meets on the last Tuesday of every month, from 11am - 1pm. You do not need to stay for the whole two hours; you are welcome to join us for as long as you want.
How do I register?
You can register to join our Family and Friends group below and we will add you to the group mailing list. Each month you will be sent an email one week before the group is due to take place, asking you to confirm if you will be attending. Once you have confirmed your attendance, the joining instructions will be sent to you the day before the group takes places. You can ask to be removed from the group mailing list at any time. If you register to join and the next group is due to take place in less than a week's time we will send you the joining instructions the day before the group takes place. After this you will be sent an email each month to confirm your attendance as previously described.
If you do not receive these emails from Ovacome, please check you email junk folder. Please call 0800 008 7054 if you have any queries.
What support can Ovacome offer me to attend online sessions?
If you require support to attend one of our online sessions, please let us know when you sign up. Some examples of support we can give include:
- Enabling translated captioning
- Closed captioning is available on all our Zoom sessions
- Translators including British Sign Language (BSL). We usually require around three weeks advanced notice to allow for booking.
- Tech assistance – we have a user guide to help with our online Zoom events and we are here to help people get connected. We can set up a practice Zoom meeting with a member of the Ovacome team. We can also talk through any questions you may have about this technology.
- Financial assistance - we want to ensure that Ovacome members can access the support groups they want to without worrying about the associated costs. For example, we can cover the internet costs for people who would like to join our online support groups. For more information please see: Financial assistance
By attending an Ovacome online event, you agree to our participation agreement, which you can read here. Please note that we will not tolerate any form of discriminatory or offensive comments during our event. Anyone who makes any comments that are deemed as such will be removed from the session.
We recommend that you use your personal email address to register for our events rather than a company address. This is for your privacy.
Here is some information about how to use Zoom on different devices:

If you have any questions, get in touch on 0800 008 7054 or at support@ovacome.org.uk .

All of our online events and groups are free. However, if you can spare a few pounds to cover the cost of your registration, this will help us continue to provide free support to those who aren’t able to do so. You can make a donation when you register below.
Thank you so much for your support.
