Help me to make a difference to those affected by ovarian cancer

Can you help me make a real difference to the life of someone affected by ovarian cancer?

I’m raising funds for Ovacome, the national UK charity focused on providing support and information to anyone affected by this disease. Ovacome is a strong community for those who have been diagnosed, those who think that they might be at risk, friends and family, and healthcare professionals.

Ovacome exists to reduce isolation, provide expert information, promote understanding of ovarian cancer and its symptoms, and to support those affected by it in their time of need.

Ovacome’s specialist support team is there to help those living with ovarian cancer navigate their treatment, care and life beyond the disease through the charity’s telephone support line, email, and 24-hour forum. Ovacome also hosts online and in-person groups, workshops, and events where people affected can meet others in similar circumstances, share advice, make friends, and offer encouragement to one another in a safe environment.

Ovacome receives no government funding and so relies on its donors and fundraisers to make its life-changing work possible. Your generosity could help someone affected by ovarian cancer access the vital support and resources they need. Any amount you feel able to give could have a huge impact on the experience of someone facing a diagnosis.

It would mean a lot to me if you could share my fundraising page with your friends, family, colleagues and on your social media.

Rosie’s words

Saturday 5th Jul
We’re fundraising for Ovacome for Jemima. My friend Rosie wrote these lovely words.

My wonderful friend Jemima died on May 23rd.

She was silly, weird, hilarious, had a child like curiosity and was unbelievably cool. She boasted about her friend and was so excited when she saw them succeed in life.

I loved how she mixed so seamlessly her love for a party and being ferrel with wholesome activities such as foraging or wildflower walks. Animals and nature were her specialist subject.

Growing up I wanted to be her and that feeling never stopped. She was artistic and scientific. Generous and kind. She had a strong moral compass and wasn’t scared to use her voice to speak up if she witnessed an injustice. Would defend anyone she felt had been treated unfairly.

She meant a lot to a lot of different people. I love her and I am broken hearted that she is not here.

This wasn’t meant to happen to Jemima,

She was one of the good ones.

She suffered so much, it was hard to watch.

After years of going to the dr with symptoms she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer (Low Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinoma) in February 2023. My sister articulates this much better than me and I would encourage you to read her articles substack https://substack.com/@poppy193114

I am angry she’s not here and about her treatment.

Scared about this happening to someone else. Someone else could be left unheard and suffering like our gorgeous Jemima.

I am running Kielder marathon on October 2025 in memory of Jemima. My lovely friend Megan and I are raising money for Ovacome – an ovarian cancer charity, one Jemima liked… In the hope that Jemima’s story can be heard and that tests and treatment in the future means that other people don’t have to go though this.

I entered the marathon before Jemima died and talked to her about it. She always thought long distance running was bonkers and would bring up my running often when we were in groups of people, I was always embarrassed, she made me feel like I was doing something amazing….

She did that for a lot of people, I know I’m not special in that but she made me feel special.’
